Thank you for your participation in this class. I hope you will be able to complete the in-class course evaluations. It would also be helpful to me if you could comment on each question below.
1. So, what is medical ethics? Is it an important subject to study? Why/why not?
2. Reflect on your experience in this class. Were you able to contribute to class discussion? Were you well-prepared? An active participant in class? Active on-line? Why/why not?
3. What is the most valuable idea/lesson/argument/skill you will take away from class?
4. What is still confusing to you or never seemed worthwhile?
5. Is the blog helpful in understanding the material? Please explain how I could improve the use of the blog for real understanding of the course material. Comment on frequency of required postings, topics,% of final grade, etc.
6. What have you learned in the course that surprised you?
7. What experience in your life resonated in this course? Do you have any suggestions to better link your life experiences, and the experiences of students like you, with course material/topics?
8. Generally, why are you in school? Do you think you would take more philosophy if money/time weren't factors? Explain.
5. I think that it is semi-bogus that you allowed people -a month and a half- to finish the blogs that were due in August and September, when no "stress" was happeing. Here in late November/December, you closed the blogs in a weeks time when all of my professors are cramming papers and tests and essay finals down my throat. I understand that I was behind and it was my fault and responsibility to get the blog completed on time, but if you let a month and a half go by for the easy times in the beginning, you could at least cut some slack when things are getting hectic in the end.
ReplyDeleteMedical ethics was an interesting class, especially for anyone interested in a career in the medical field. It is important to study because we discussed some concepts and ethics what are prevalent today. For me, discussion is helpful for learning. I enjoyed hearing everyone's thoughts about a topic and then I could re-evaluate my opinion. I believe I participated in class frequently. I like the blog where people who do not like to talk in front of people can post thoughts. However, I think it should be optional, or extra credit. It is a good place to continue class discussions, but I think that when class ends, people forget to comment on the blog. If it was extra credit, I think people would be more willing to comment. I enjoy philosophy classes, but would rather take the amount of philosophy classes required. I liked that we did not have any tests and wrote papers instead. I do not mind writing small papers because I can present my thoughts on a topic better than on a test because I do not always do my best on tests. Writing a paper for a final exam is a nice break from having to study and cramp in information right before a test. Papers allow me to have more time to collect my thoughts and really engage myself in the topic.
